Each one of us would probably agree that we have been blessed on many occasions in the midst of being undeserving. After the fact, we usually say, “Thank You Jesus” and keep it moving (if we do that much). But have you ever thought that maybe you have been blessed at the expense of someone else?
In Mark 5:25, we find a woman with an issue of blood for 12 years. Day after day losing LIFE! Because of this, according to the law, she was considered unclean, so she couldn't be sociable. In verse 26, she spent ALL that she had and was getting worse (she was in bad shape). She then touches Jesus' garment and was made whole. What a wonderful miracle! The Bible did not say she prayed or went to the temple (which she was not allowed). But the Bible does let us know, she did not have a relationship with Jesus (verse 34... this will be examined in a future post). She was blessed, but how was she able to come in contact with Jesus in the first place?
Jesus was coming across the sea from a previous encounter. Verse 22. (KEY VERSE)... there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, fell at his feet.
Here's one of the rulers of the synagogue which perhaps, because of their custom, shouldn't have recognized Jesus like he did. Responding to Jesus' presence, he FELL at his feet (humbled himself in front of many people, as a RULER). In verse 23, and besought or begged him greatly, saying my daughter lying at the point of death: (Jairus had Faith enough in Jesus' power to know what he was capable of doing by telling Jesus what he himself could do.. Hahahaha My Lord!!!).... come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. With NO doubt, but full confidence in Jesus and mind you, all this time, Jesus has said NOTHING!!!
But look at verse 24... And Jesus went with him . Now afterward, we find the woman with the issue of blood. The only way she was able to receive her blessing is because Jesus was with Jairus. Jairus placed his mind and body in the right position in order to get Jesus to come to his rescue. Verse 24 also says ...and much people followed him and thronged him. But note, out of much people, Jesus was WITH Jairus. He was going to answer Jairus' prayer. The woman with the issue of blood, just so happen to be on the way to Jairus' house. She was blessed on his way to blessing someone else!!
How many times has this happen to us?
Most times we seldom pray and say, Lord, I know this wasn't my day, but BLESS the one who brought you this way. Our prayer should include: Lord, I was in a terrible position (Bad Shape) and didn't even know how to come to you, but somebody else's situation brought you to me. They knew how to get your attention and therefore, I find myself blessed. Lord Bless them ABOVE MEASURE for their being a blessing to and for me.
